Nagorno Karabakh’s decades-long collision between politics, ethnicity and power have left hundreds of thousands scarred. The recent dissolution of the self-proclaimed government marks a turning point, but not the end of the story. Thousands still rebuild their lives as a result of mass displacement and uncertainty; the region now faces a daunting task of redefining its future within Azerbaijani borders. The humanitarian and cultural scars left behind are not something to overlook; however, the opportunity for a lasting peace rooted in dialogue, responsibility and coexistence is just as important.
